Hearing God's Voice among the Noise in Our Lives

How can we hear God's voice in our lives over the noisiness of everyday life? When we do hear a voice, how do we know that the voice we hear is God's voice? I talked about this on August 5 in the "No, Thank You, Evil One" blog. To me, it is easier to distinguish God's voice from the Evil One's. The Evil One will tear you down, put negative thoughts and actions into your mind. God's voice will build you up, calm your fears, and talk you down.

On my ride home from Callahan Eye Clinic and the newest blood test for auto-immune retinopathy (AIR), I was feeling a little stressed: afternoon traffic, thunderstorm, eyes hurting. I'm thinking what happens if this test is inconclusive, what next? I've done the research in medical journals, and the treatment for AIR is inconclusive and many times painful. My thoughts go to "Why bother?"  That was definitely not from God.

God's voice is not always in our minds; it can come through a song on WDJC, "Gonna Be Alright" by Ryan Ellis. I know people are praying for my healing, yet I also know that it may not be his plan. His plan, regardless, will be the best for me. It will be the best message to show his love, grace, and mercy for us lowly humans.

1 Corinthians 2:9 "However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--"

I do believe with my entire being that God is preparing me for what is to come. He has brought different individuals and organizations into my life to prepare me to do his will and continue with his ministry. Healed or not, I am God's willing servant.

When you are faced with fears, both big and small, turn them over to our Father. Cry out to Christ who will intercede on your behalf. Everything will be alright!
