Yes, Lord, Yes
Yesterday was a challenge, and by the time I returned home at 8:30 PM, I was beyond exhausted, frustrated, and sad. Simple tasks are complicated now.
To help me fall asleep, I'll read from my Kindle Fire, but last night, I just wanted to crash, to block out the frustrations and disappoints of the day. But, the Lord would not let me settle. He wanted me to read from 2 of the books I had been reading for a while now. I read a chapter from Sheila Walsh’s book The Shelter of God’s Promise and Lysa Terkeurst’s book Is God Speaking to Me?
I was reminded of God’s peace in stressful situations and that I’m never alone. My family and friends want to be there for me, to help carry the load. As someone who always does for others, it’s been a challenge being on the receiving end. As our Father reminds us, let others be a blessing to us. If we deny them the opportunity to be helpful or do something nice, we are denying God's blessings over them and over ourselves.
I also finished reading Lysa Terkeurst’s book. The main focus of the book is being a yes-woman for God. This quote hit me, “This booklet has been your invitation to become a woman who says yes to God and catches a glimpse of the blessings that are ahead” (p. 48). How in the world is losing my eyesight a blessing? But….God knows best. He knows what’s ahead. If I knew what was up ahead, I would not have to have faith that God was in control.
Before I went to sleep, I became a YES-WOMAN for my Father. Yes, I will lean on you. Yes, I will follow you. Yes, I will be obedient. Yes, I will...
Does that mean I won't break down? No. I'm human and will fail, but God is there to pick me up, dust me off, and set me back on the path. All throughout the Bible, He gives us many scriptures as reminders of His love and faithfulness, of His strength and tenderness, of His grace and mercy. All you have to do is take a moment and look, take a moment and give your situation over to him. Is that easy? Nope, because I keep trying to find the solutions to my problems. However, I give it right back to him and move on.
Won't you join me in being a YES-WOMAN and YES-MAN? (Malachi 3;16-17)
God's voice may not be loud and boisterous. It may be a quiet voice, or a video, meme, or song put in front of us because He knows we need it. We just have to be still, be open, be ready. Listen for God's message for you today.
In Christ's love,
PB
