The Lesson in Unanswered Prayers

In my last blog, one of my eye specialists had said my infusion had been approved. Unfortunately, that was incorrect. It took another 4 weeks to get an answer. What happened during those additional 4 weeks is what this message is about.

Our corporate prayer has been for the insurance company to approve the infusions which would calm down the overactive enzymes in my system. The enzymes are what are destroying the protein in my eyes. According to the eye specialists, if the enzymes were not calmed, I would have no sight at all by December While we waited on the insurance company, I had 2 additional vision checks. Both checks showed the AIR (autoimmune retinopathy) had stabilized.

The stabilization was the goal of the infusions, but God didn't need the help of the infusions. Our prayers for the insurance company's approval were not answered. Something even better happened.

Unanswered prayers may not be God ignoring your/our prayers and concerns. He is working behind the scenes for something even greater. We have been praying for my vision since April, and God showed His hand in November. Am I fully healed? No. That may not be God's goal for me. So, my prayers are for Him to use me for His glory and His kingdom.

Last week, the neurologist called with the news that the infusions had been approved; however, due to exorbitant increase in the insurance annual deductible, cost is prohibitive. The infusions will not cure or correct the damage that has been done, so I'm not going to worry about them.

Don't get me wrong; if medical care is needed, I will do it. God put medicine and doctors on this planet to do His will. God used medicine and doctors to keep my father alive for 20 additional years after having a massive stroke. In those 20 years, he shared his testimony to touch the lives of others. Please do not use this blog as a reason to stop seeing your doctors, taking your medication, or practicing good health. I still go to all of my doctors' appointments and take my meds.

God uses everything and everyone for His purpose and His glory.

Back to unanswered prayers....God may have something greater in mind for us. Don't give up if your prayer hasn't been answered. It is in the waiting where we can find many blessings and many lessons. It is in the waiting where we find our 'people,' the ones who are supportive and prayerful.

How can you use your unanswered prayers for God's glory?

How can you use your dilemmas, trials, and praises for God's glory?

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and HE will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3

I wish you many blessings in 2024. If you will let Him, God will do miraculous things in your life. If you aren't part of a church, find one and join. Having a church support you, lift you up in prayer, and rejoice with you is a feeling like no other.

Love in Christ, PB
